The Resperate instructions seem to show that it is ok to breathe from top of chest.Isn't this considered bad?

Hi Dekim,

Breathing involves movement of the chest, abdomen or both. Many practitioners do recommend abdominal breathing as it allows deeper, more efficient breathing. However, the most important issue with RESPeRATE is that the breathing sensor is able to pick up the user's breathing rate. The ability to pick up the breathing rate depends on how the user is `naturally` breathing and where the sensor is placed. The sensor should be positioned on the place where you are breathing from ie. upper abdomen or chest.

You can determine how you breathe by placing your right hand on the right side of your chest and your left hand on the upper abdomen. Breathe normally and feel which hand moves first when you start to inhale and exhale. That is the location to place the breathing sensor.

Please refer to the user manual for more information regarding how to determine if you are breathing from your chest or abdomen and how to trouble-shoot.

Regards,
