The first week that I used resperate, I felt so much better. Now I use it and I feel a slight headache afterward. Am I breathing too rapidly? My breathing rate naturally seems to fall at 3-4 bpm (when relaxed), but often the resperate machine tells me to breathe about 5-6 bpm. Also, I have a natural pause after the exhale but the machine tells me to inhale right away. I feel like the machine is telling me to spend too much time on the inhale. My natural inhale seems really short in comparison to the exhale. The machine wants my inhale to be a little longer. Help me learn how to use the machine properly. Thanks.

Sounds like you are unable to keep up with what the tones are asking you to do, which means the rate is too slow for you! I'm imagining that you are trying to take in as much air as you can then then pushing to prolong your exhale, which may leave you with lack of oxygen, which is what may be causing the headache. It's not a competition to see how low you can get. When you feel that it's trying to bring you to a rate that is beyond your comfort zone, begin breathing normally and it will re-adjust itself to your new higher rate. The last think I want you to do is to in a sense force yourself to keep up with the tones. Your goal is effortless breathing and being relaxed! It should never feel like a chore!
