I have used my Resperate 4 times and have seen my blood pressure drop 30 points in 4 days. I am very amased with such quick results. I have severe sleep apnea which I suspect is causing my high blood pressure or could it be the the CPAP machine I use that causes my breathing at night to cause the me to have high blood pressure? I would be interested in any comments of sleep apnea patients.

WOW! WOW!! and WOW!!! That is incredible! As great as that 30 pt drop is, it's important to look for the all-day sustained reduction that the RESPeRATE has. We have not done any clinical studies with people with sleep apnea. I'd also be curious to see comments from other patients with sleep apnea.

My husband, who uses a CPAP for sleep apnea [who also has reduced lung function], has been using a RESPeRATE for just over a week. No dramatic drops in BP but fewer spikes than usual over that period.

There is of course a known association between long term use of CPAP and reduction in BP, but since exhalation against the CPAP air flow entails some effort, the Resperate might mediate the effects of the effort in using the CPAP and thus enable more of the BP reduction that effective apnea treatment entails. A possible subgroup ######ysis for a future trial? [I'm in health outcomes research, couldn't resist] This all fits in with your CHF product development as well.

Will see what happens as the weeks go by...

Hi, Paul

My name is Rae and I too have sleep apnea. Mine is currently untreated as I have such a hard time with the machine. I was switched from a CPap to a Bi-Pap which is much better for breathing out. My problem is mostly claustrophobia. Anyway...recently my BP went up and my doctor thinks it is the sleep apnea. I don't want to take medication so I've dropped all fast foods/resturant foods from my diet and have ordered the Resperate. We will see how it goes. Of course, my BP is lower 141/100. The food changes dropped it to about 135/95 and I'm hoping the Resparate and compliance on my BiPap takes it the rest of the way down.

My blood pressure DID go up significantly at night...165/110...but that may well be due to sleep anxiety with my claustrophobia. We must wait and see.

Nice meeting you...hope your success has continued.

Rae

Just remember like all things in life, RESPeRATE may not have the same dramatic results for everyone. We DO know that when used properly, it WILL lower your blood pressure!
Good Luck guys!

I have sleep apnea, and I use a C-PAP machine with mixed results. My biggest problem is with the facial device. I use a mask at times, and the C-PAP Pro alternately. Neither is comfortable for more than a few nights. When I'm so bugged by it that I take it off halfway through the night, I go to the alternate device. I'm fairly certain loss of sleep is a big part of my high BP.
I received my resperate machine a week ago and I have used it at least once every day. I notice a 10-15 point drop in both S/D before-and-after BP readings. Only a slight sustained drop so far. I have been off pharmo meds for about two months, trying all sorts of minerals and herbs with little success.
To get my BP down, I need to drop my weight to below 200 lbs. (I am 6' 2" and 215 pounds) I work out regularly with a Bowflex machine, and tennis, and look pretty good for a 67 year-old, but somehow, I need to loose that 15 pounds! I eat healthily, but obviously, too many calories - probably nuts. Any suggestions on how to lose 15 pounds? Eating less doesn't seem to help. Maybe more walking, or possibly the heavy squats as proposed by one?
An interesting observation about BP and altitude: I notice when I go to our mountain place in NC at 4400' elevation, my BP goes up considerably. Most of the time I live at sea level. Any of you who live at high elevations, try a long vacation at sea level and see if the BP goes down. Makes sense - bottles of liquid filled and sealed at sea level tend to build up pressure inside when taken to altitude.

CPAP user here. IMHO, High BP is one sympton of sleep apnea. I just switched to CPAP with Cflex, which makes exhaling much easier (A poor man's BiPap). Also, I switched headgears, and alternate between a cannula and a nasal pillow. Not as uncomfortable as the mask.

For apnea victims, there is a support group apneasupport dot org. Lots of stimulating ideas there.

Just ordered Resperate, and look forward to lower BP scores.

I don't have sleep apnea but I know people that do. The people I know are also overweight.

you didn't say whether or not you were overweight but I read this about sleep apnea, "Risk factors include being male, overweight, and over the age of forty, ...." [found at http://www.sleepapnea.org/info/index.html ]

The same website also says, "Untreated, sleep apnea can cause high blood pressure and other cardiovascular disease, memory problems, weight gain, impotency, and headaches."

Seems that some of the risk factors are the same as for HBP so I would doubt that the sleep apnea is causing the HBP. I wonder if sleep apnea can go away if an overweight person loses weight?
