Hi Heather; I am very new to the internet so excuse if there are some errors. Firstly, wanted to say that my b/p was in the range of 220/110. doctor's put me on a water pill with a potassium blocker, got it down a bit but would still climb into the 220/100 range. then they tried me on the lisinopril, had great results, BUT the side effects were just awful. I felt like I had a cold or sort. lots of head conjestion sometimes a cough, but was told if it was not a dry cough, was not from the pill. After 7 months of coughing and bruising ribs and all, finally a nurse told me, just stop taking.
within two weeks all the troubles of sinus, cough, asthma like feelings, were gone. Then the doctor agree it was that pill. was then put on Cozar. within two weeks started with a tickle in throat, then cough, and upper conjestion. Now the doc, being aware, took me off and I went down the road of many many of their drugs, some landed me in hospital, others, like the lisinorpil bad side effects. Finally they tried me on a low dose of atenenol, a beta blocker, 25mgs. here my pressure was now 170/98 or so. was in the process of trying still other meds with the doctors when I seen the device, resperate online. I did not want to spend 300, but was having so much trouble with all the doc's meds, have had the resperate for about two months, I do the breathing and listening about 3 to 4 times a week for 15-25 minutes. my b/p has been a consistent 145/77. I can only say, it was worth the money. I am starting to walk a bit and cut out some high salt foods, but the resperate works. hard to believe, but have done nothing to help the device along, did not change my eating or exercise, do not need anymore additional pills. the doctor would like to see my b/p even lower, but wants to see if I do some other changes, continue the resperate, continue the water pill and low dose of atenenol for now, she tells me if I get a consistently lower pressure she would like to remove the atenenol as it lowers my heart rate too much. But looks like I will be almost pill free. By it if you can, is all i can say. cameo815 |

Well, as an acknowledged non-expert in any of this stuff...
1. It works, or at the very least it works for me. 2. It not only seems to lower your BP, it relaxes you too, which might be just as significant to many people, but a lot more difficult to quantify. 3. You need a BP-measuring machine, cuff, whatever, for monitoring purposes. 4. You also should have a BP recording and charting programme, try my-blood-pressure.com free. Here in the UK I've just spent about 」225 (roughly US$400) on the three things mentioned above, and I think they are worth every penny. If you use a Resperate without measuring, monitoring, and recording you might get discouraged and give up, but with the right measuring and recording stuff you should be able to see the difference. I've already discovered that my 'high' BP, as measured by the medical folks, is in fact consistently low or standard for most of the day and just gets up into the high numbers when I'm stressed, so I'll be concentrating my use of the Resperate around midday or early afternoon - that's the sort of stuff I'd never have realised without the right equipment. -------------------- Gordon, in Scotland

Heather,
I guess I'm one of the rare ones here but I've been taking 10mg of lisinopril since last July and it's been doing fine for me. My b/p was 180/110 when I was put on it. I am taking some herbs as well though as my goal is to come off the prescription completely. I found the information about the resperate and would love to buy it but right now funds don't allow that. I am taking a herbal supplement called bloodpressurex by Nature's Sunshine and I take 1000mg of garlic daily too. I also read that eating 4 stalks of celery can help but I am not a big fan of celery. I know the one thing I MUST do is walk daily, either outside or on the treadmill and that's my main goal right now. |

Resperate works well for some people and that is great news. It doesn't seem to work so well for everyone, no doubt because the mechanisms of hypertension are varied and complex. So far I am rather disappointed. I enjoy using it and find it a pleasant alternative to meditation or relaxation, but the lowering is not definite or dramatic (my bp varies quite a lot so it is a bit hard to spot a trend). I am stepping up my usage each week and making sure it doesn't take my breathing rate too low, as that can be counterproductive. (I agree with the view that you should be able to set a minimum bpm.) More news anon!

Thanks Heather I HAD BEEN TAKING ATENOLOL FOR 3 YRS, but my BP was still high and then really high so the doc gave me a dose of Lipronsil in his office..In an hour i felt like someone on Herion must feel..i couldn't stand up and my eyes wouldn't function..i didn't think i would be able to drive the rest of the way home..it was HORRIBLE. when i got home, i went right to bed but in a half hour my stomach was doing flips and i went to the bathroom and it came out of both ends..I was sick as a dog. I will never take that again. |

Thanks Heather Do you mean Lisinopril? I'm not familiar with Lipronsil but I am taking Lisinopril. Used to take 40mg a day and about 6 months ago cut down to 20mg a day. I just started taking just 10mg a day. The medication worked for me but caused terrible muscle weakness(a known side effect). I take my bp twice a day and used resperate twice a day(once in the afternoon and again when I go to bed at night). Yesterday my bp was 117/75 before using resperate and was 110/67 after my session. I've been using resperate for 8 months now and the change as been gradual but there has been an improvement and that's the important thing. |

Thanks Heather Hi Heather, I am in my second month of using Resperate, twice daily 15 min each. I am under medication as well but I am seeing a 15-20 point drop in bp. The morning is the best 129/65 and in the pm it always goes higher 156/ 72 but this is great drop from what I used to experience 186/68. My doc is skeptical but I keep a daily log so this will help convince him that there is something to this. I walk aggresively for about an hour each day which is a great help in this type of therapy. I wouldn't hesitate a bit on buying if I were you. I hope to get off of some of these meds soon. Dean |
