I just received my unit yesterday afternoon. I am retired and have time available, so I increased my session time from the default 15 minutes to 20 minutes. I plan to do 2 sessions per day. Since yesterday, I have logged 55 minutes of therapeutic breathing time and my BP has increased 10 points. Anyone have any thoughts to offer of newbie performance expectations?

Val,
Your goal is to achieve 45 minutes of therapeutic minutes per week. It sounds like you are trying too hard & too quickly. This will cause what I call a "burn-out". I would suggest cutting back down to 15 minute sessions and cut back to one time a day. Make sure you are not putting too much effort into your sessions. It should be a truly effortless and relaxing experience.

Marguerite,

Thanks for replying. I may have mis-read it, but I thought the instruction manual mentioned that the 45 minute weekly goal was the minimum and that multiple daily sessions were encouraged. Maybe I have to re-read the manual. However, I am not a stranger to meditation and, had my Cardiologist not made me aware of your product, I was going to re-start my twice-daily 20 minute sessions on my own, along with my yoga practice. I don't feel like I'm trying too hard. I find the sessions very restful and soothing. However, if you really think that once daily is sufficient, I'll do it.

I have no preconceived notions about the efficacy of your product and, therefore, I'm not looking for an instantaneous fix. I realize this may take some time if it is going to work. My doctor and I have set a two month period as a time frame for determining if it is helpful. I certainly hope it works because both he and I would love to see me off meds. Time will tell.

Regards,

Val

Val B,
The User Manual is a guide. It should be followed, however not everyone responds the same, which is why I suggested for you what I did. Once you get the hang of it and want to increase your sessions, then you can.
