I have had my Resperate unit for about 6 months and never really used it with any diligence. With medication my BP avg was typically 135/85. Beginning July 1, I started a new routine "Dad's 1/2 hour". For 1/2 hour each night I put on my whitening strips, climb into my Massage chair and put on my Resperate ear phones. For 30 minutes I get a great massage, slow down my breathing to 4-5 breaths per minute, and whiten my teeth. Talk about multi tasking!
It took me almost two weeks to actually have my breathing be normal. By that I mean not forced and feel very natural. After eighteen days my avg BP was 105/55 which left me tired and weak. On the 23 of the month I cut my medication in half with a resultant spike in avg BP to 121/69. Today my BP avg was 106/60. So, I don't know how low this damn thing will go, but will continue "Dad's 1/2 hour" and update my progress. |

Hmmm, I would actually not recommend doing all that while using the RESPeRATE. The whitening strips may affect your breathing (if you are breathing out of your mouth) and the massage chair may cause movement to your body which the sensor may register as changes in your breathing.

Using the Resperate all by itself used to put me to sleep in 4 out of 5 sessions. The music, while important for cadence, is so boring! I, like you, was concerned about the chair affecting the sensor. The chair does move me about quite a bit - but it's had no perceptible effect on the sensor. The whitening strips absolutely force me to breathe through my nose which is my preference anyway. Lastly, the results suggest that there has been great benefit to the methodology.
I have noticed that my feet aren't really doing anything during this whole 30 minutes and am open to suggestions on how they could begin to pull their load. |

eh, why not soak them in hot water? I don't know if i'm even kidding or not. We typically suggest keeping your feet on the floor. I wouldn't do anything that requires movement of your feet.
I wish you lots of success on your methods! Breathe Easy! Marguerite (IMG:http://forum.resperate.com/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) |

Hi New Users,
I have used resperate for 6 days. I have to force my inhale/exhale to follow the tones. If I breath easy and naturally I do not always follow the tones. Should I stop forcing my inhale/exhale? and just breath easy? My BP has come down even in six days of use once a day. the conversations are helpful. danny |

dannys,
Ok, we do not want you to force anything. Not everyone can get into the groove of following the guiding tones. You should breathe according to the guiding tones, but the important fact to understand is that is just what they are...guiding tones. They aren't "follow me or else" tones. Comfort & relaxation are 2 key components of the RESPeRATE experience. Breathe Easy! Marguerite (IMG:http://forum.resperate.com/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) |
