As long suspected, it thought that salt somehow interferes with natural blood vessel function.

This new study found that salt reduction improves blood vessel function....

While I believe that those who eat the typical North American diet of processed foods get far too much sodium chloride the study you cite doesn't prove anything. Suggesting something is not the same as conclusive proof which this study does not provide. And before one can conclude in any study that salt per se is bad all the associated variables have to be resolved. As I pointed out in earlier posts magnesium deficiency is epidemic in North America with about 80% of the population getting less than the RDA which many experts believe is far too low. Magnesium has to be in a positive balance before one can make any conclusions about any 'adverse effects' of salt.

In my personal experience I had symptoms including tachycardia (racing heart) during the night after a high salt meal that strongly suggested salt sensitivity. However cutting back on an already very low salt intake did not improve my blood pressure. But when I started correcting a magnesium deficiency high salt meals no longer had any effect that I could detect.

There are a lot of factors that need to be taken into account before any conclusions can be made about salt or any other nutrient. Here's a study that looked at how slow breathing affects salt in the system.

"In fact, scientists believe that how we breathe may hold a key to how the body regulates blood pressure.

"Researchers claim that in addition to deep relaxation, breathing slowly breaks down the salt that we eat.
