I always reach therapeutic breathing for at least 8 minutes per session. The breath detection is in the 90's but my synchronization rate is way low 20-30 although I did manage 45 today. Is this a concern? My weekly total of therapeutic minutes is over 60.

You're asking the wrong person! Just kidding. I have been a RESPeRATE user myself for over 2 years now. In the beginning, the stats were real important to me & I would focus on them, often times building up anxiety! (kinda like that bathroom scale!!! (IMG:http://forum.resperate.com/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) ) I rarely review my stats anymore. As long as my BP is in normal, then I know I'm using it as best and comfortably as I can!
My question to you is, have you seen a reduction in your blood pressure yet? If not, then it's possible that you are not breathing according to the tones properly. You need to breathe in with the higher tone and breathe out with the lower tone. It needs to be a very fluent breathing. I'm wondering if the breathing rate is too low. That's another time when I see people not seeing results or if their synchronzation is low. I don't want to tell you to pay more attention, because then that might build up anxiety and non-relaxation, but I would like to recommend remaining in a breathing rate zone of 6-8 BPM. If you have difficulty remaining in that zone, then try doing a ten minute session instead! Keep us posted with your progress! Breathe Easy! Thanks Marguerite -
My BP is only down slightly so far - not enough yet to credit the Resperate. I do feel that the machine is trying to slow me down too much - the exhale is way long and I need to inhale sooner. I hadn't been paying any attention to any of the stats other than therapeutic minutes so I wondered if I should be. I will be more mindful now of the sync stat if my BP doesn't come down. |

Remember that even a slight reduction in your BP is a good thing. Regarding the RESPeRATE, it means that you are using it properly and should expect a further reduction. Regarding your health, any drop decreases your chances of stroke or other health conditions!
I see that you notice that the breathing exercise is a shorter inhalation followed by a prolonged exhalation. This should be fluent and effortless! Breathe Easy! Marguerite (IMG:http://forum.resperate.com/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) |
