Sorry to bother all of you again. Can you tell me why the expiration tone is so long? How come it never gets shorter? I'm all right on the inhale but can't exhale as long.
I know some people say to remove the headphones, but I feel like that's cheating. Thanks. Cynthia |

[Hi, I continued to have that problem with my older model Resperate but the new one works correct. The inhale and exhale stays the same. So do you have a new model or the old?
I called when I had the old model... Resperate people told me to breath normal then in a few minutes the instrument would start following me... that would defeat the purpose of the instrument for it suppose to guide you in breathing. |

Hi-
I just bought it last month but it's not the Ultra, if that's what you mean. I know I breathe shallowly so maybe in time I'll just start to breathe better. I'll accept any advice anyone would be glad to share to make it a better experience. Thanks. Cynthia |

I feel for you Cynthia.
It's not you, it's the old model causing the problem. The Ultra doesn't have that problem. It's so easy to use. The inhale and exhale length is always the same. The old model also had a problem getting started to my breathing. I would have to shut it off and restart several times before it would work. I've used my Ultra for 35 straight days... always starts right off. The Ultra is an MUCH better unit than the old one. If you haven't had it over 30 days return for a refund. Then order the Ultra. |

I just want to clarify one thing...the RESPeRATE breathing exercise is in fact a short inhalation followed by a prolonged exhalation. This prolonged exhalation becomes more noticeable when you are at a slower breathing rate. If you feel that you can not keep up with the exhale, it means that the breathing rate is too slow for you. Most people are comfortable at a rate of 6-8 BPM. The RESPeRATE will continue to bring your breathing rate down if it senses that you are keeping up with the tones. This is why we say don't hold your breath and don't breathe with effort. I suggest breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth. We find there is more of a control when you breathe out through your mouth. You also should be aware of what your beginning rate is. All too often we see people begin at too slow of a rate and it makes sense why this happens. People sit down, get comfortable, put the sensor on and take deep breaths. These deep breaths are being registered at a slower breathing rate, so you may begin at 9 BPM as opposed to 12-13 BPM. (example numbers only) I don't want you to over-analyze your sessions, but try to be aware of these little things that I've mentioned.
