My studies have indicated that a dose of salt (4000+mg/day) can surprisingly put blood pressure up substantially for over 4 days, and it takes over a week of lower salt intake to overcome the impact of single high salt day. The supper foods for potassium are beans, potatoes, and banana. Recommended daily amount of potassium is in the range 2000 to 3500 mg/day, with those with hypertension or high salt diets towards the higher end of this. A banana packs about 400 mg a good sized baked potato about 750 mg, and half cup of beans 900 mg. Spinach, and green beans, and other green vegetables are usually good sources of potassium. |
