I just received my Resperate and have used it a couple of times. My starting BPM is around 6 (I am a runner) and I drift down to about 4 or less by the end of the session. Is this OK and will I benefit from Resperate? The manual talks about 5-10 BPM as the correct range to be in. What if I drop below 3 BPM?

Steve58,
There are some people out there that begin below 10BPM. The question I have is even though you're a runner, are you taking deep breaths during the recognition phase? I've personally witnessed this numerous times at conventions. These deep breaths are being registered as a slow breathing rate. Most people normally breathe between 12-18 BPM. I'm sure that if you were sitting down reading a book or watching TV, your breathing pace would not be 6 BPM. We actually recommend leaving the sensor attached to you during such activity to give you an idea of what your normal breathing range is. In any event, if you are beginning below 10BPM, then make sure that you are truly comfortable with the pace that the device will bring you down to. Also keep in mind that it's not a competition to see how low you can go. A person may benefit more at a rate of 6-8BPM, rather than 3BPM. Breathe Easy!
