Hi, I am 34 yrs old and have had hbp since giving birth to my first child. I am on meds and was doing quite well until just recently I have had episodes where my bp goes up to 140/97. I used resperate and after my session it went down to 122/89. Is it ok for the bp to go down so fast? Sometimes when I start, I'll have a bp reading of 135/90 and by the end of the session it would be 113/75. I hope this is ok. Also, once it drops, does it stay down for the rest of the day? I feel like once I end my session, it'll go back up again.

Dear Esther,

It sounds like RESPeRATE is working well for you! RESPeRATE "normalizes" blood pressure so you don't have to worry about RESPeRATE making your blood pressure too low (as some medications can). The reduction is blood pressure after your session is excellent, but if you have any concerns please consult with your doctor.

Occasionally users find that their blood pressure goes up immediately after a session, which usually indicates that they are putting too much effort into breathing during the session. So, it's important to be sure to always breathe comfortably during the session without effort. Putting in effort may be counterproductive to lowering blood pressure.

Is the BP reduction temporary or sustained? It depends on how long you have been using RESPeRATE! Generarlly within just 3-4 weeks of regular use, your BP reduction is sustained - 24 hours! In order to maintain that reduction, you just need to continue using (and enjoying!) RESPeRATE on a regular basis - accumulating at least 40 minutes of "Effective Time" (slow breathing time below 10 BPM) a week.

Hope this helps -- both you -- and your fellow RESPeRATE users.
