I've begun to experience increasing frequent problems with my machine, which I've had and used for only 5 weeks or so.

It will suddenly go into an extended and extremely long exhaling tone which seems to have nothing at all to do with my rate of breathing or any sudden change in my rate of breathing. When this happens I try to restore a proper rythmn by breathing normally apart from the tones, but this doesn't work. I end up having to turn the machine off and start the session completely over.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

Dear Norman,
This is not a technical issue, rather a user issue. The sensor is picking up a slower breathing rate than you think. On your next sessions, try to be a bit aware of your breathing. Are you taking in a deeper breath? The RESPeRATE is an intelligent unit, but it is not human. If you are taking in deep breaths to the point where your abdomen is fully protruded, the sensor might mistake that for a SLOW BPM.
You may also want to try doing a 10 minute session. This will reduce the chance of you getting down to a too low breathing rate.

I will do as you suggest. However, I must also report that the machine began unexpectedly speeding up during yesterday's session, again for no reason that I can discern. I ignored the tones and resumed normal breathing, but the machine never responded or slowed. Again I had to turn it off and start over. I very much want to succeed with the machine but I don't feel at this point that it is responding to something being done incorrectly on my part, though I have no problem with the idea that I need to do something differently. Also, if using the machine requires so much careful attention this would seem to violate the instruction to breath 'effortlessly'.

Dear Norman,
It doesn't sound like a technical issue, but if you truly beleive it may be, give our customer care dept a call! They are available Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm EST toll free at: 1-877-988-9388
The sensor is a sensitive piece of equipment. Even the slightest tightening of your abdominals might trigger it into "thinking" you have just changed your breathing pattern. Once again, as intelligent as the RESPeRATE is, it is not human!

I had the exact same problems with my Resperate last year. The machine would repeatedly suddenly speed up to an unsustainable BPM and would not respond or readjust to my breathing no matter how long I waited for it to do so. I too had to keep turning the machine off to start over. Although I contacted the customer care department, I was unable to get information which would help me correct the problem. Sadly, I returned the unit and promptly got my money back. I visited the Intercure website and this forum today in hopes of finding that the problem had been resolved.

Marguerite, since I see others are still experiencing the same problems, may I ask if there are any plans to address this in future versions of the Resperate? For me, the failure of the Resperate to respond and/or readjust to my breathing became a major obstacle to using the device. If this could be rectified, I would gladly purchase another unit.

Laurie

Dear Laurie,
As I've mentioned before, I have addressed this with the Research & Development team in Israel where this device is manufactured. They insist that it is not a technical issue with the unit itself. In any event, keep in touch with us via e-mail or through our website for future developments.
