I've been using Resperate for about two months now. Some days it's easy and relaxing and others it can be more difficult. Normally, I am a slow, shallow breather. When I start my BPM is usually between 8 and 10. Any higher than that would be forcing and the instructions say to breathe normally. My question is, why does Resperate continue to lower the BPM below 5 when its not advisable to do so. I've been stopping after 10 minutes because the rate is 4.5 or lower. I try to ignore the signals and change the rate but that doesn't always work. Without rhyme or reason my synchronization rate can vary from 60% to 97%. It would be nice if BPM could be locked in at 5 when that rate is achieved. My blood pressure is fine. I suffer from white coat syndrome and was hoping to eliminate that problem.

Rose-I am the same way (white coat syndrome). I'm also having the same issue where my bpm goes very low (down to 4.something). I hyperventilate and then get my breathing to go down again but I think this must sort of defeat the purpose. My synch rate varies as does yours.(depending on how low my bpm gets) I've tried starting at a higher rate (20-22)sometimes this works and at the end of the session my bpm is 5.something. I think doing 10 minute sessions is the best thing for me right now but I too wish there were a way to lock in the rate when its at a optimal one. Maybe on the next model they will adres this issue, I wish there were a way to do it now (IMG:http://forum.resperate.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Rose-BTW I dont have "high blood presure" except at the dr's. I've had some ongoing medical issues/problems that have made me very fearful of dr's. My husband is an RN and takes my BP before I get a chance to think about having it taken. At those times its fine.
I had hoped that when I went to the dr (been using resperate since the holidays)after using resperate for several weeks that I'd notice improvement, I didnt, it was still high.(But at home its gone down a few points on the bottom number) If they take it after my apt its usually always much lower then how it started. Basically I'm using resperate to learn how to relax and not have panic attacks. I probably could be considered pre-hypertensive since they have changed the guidelines, (I can run 120/130/ 70-90) but IMO thats just to sell more medications. -------------------- NancyA

Nancy,
Don't take those few drops in your home BP reading for granted! As far as your readings at the doctor's office, I recommend doing a quick session prior to your visit. I've even had people call us to tell us that they actually bring it into their doctor's office with them! Breathe Easy. Marguerite (IMG:http://forum.resperate.com/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) |
