Hi there, well I am very pleased with my resperate, it has definitely worked for me. Have had my blood pressure monitored by doctor as had a few high readings at surgery, since using resperate and doing all the usual things, (exercise, less salt, less booze, more fruit and veg) it has dropped to completely normal levels.
I plan to visit my friend who lives at colorado springs at 6500ft, and would like to go skiing from there, breckenridge is her nearest resort which goes (i think) up to 10,000ft. My problem is that I am a bit worried about this, I am worried that my blood pressure will shoot up again. Have been reading about high blood pressure and altitude on the net and it does not sound very good. So 2 main questions, one, will using resperate prevent my bp rising at altitude, and two, if my bp does rise will hbp for 2 weeks damage my arteries or cause any harm. Stupid questions I know but I hope you can give me some information.

This is all great news. We love hearing inspirational stories like yours. As far as your questions regarding your BP readings and altitude, I'm actually going to forward that question to Dr Ariela Alter, Director of Clinical ad Regulatory Affairs to see what scientific response she may have for you. In the meantime, keep up with your RESPeRATE sessions!

Speaking of altitude effects ... and travel. one of the biggest risks in travelling by either air or bus is these DVT (Deep Vein Thrombus) followed by PE (Pulmonary Event). In plain english if you sit too long most folks develop blood clots in the legs, and when you get up and move afterwards sometimes these clots break loss travel to heart or lungs or brain, and you have really serious condition. It turns out that something like 10% of the folks on trip over 4 hours will develop these clots. Usually they disappear in 7 days or so on their own, and vast bulk of these are silent. (94% or more of them never have any symptoms). One symptom besides stiff and hurting leg is that blood pressure can rise. Side effect of the clot. So, if you get blood pressure rise after travel it can actually be a serious matter. Compression socks, and getting up and walking every hour are highly recommended. Demand enough leg room in the units.

These two things DVT and HBP go together, HBP increases the risk of DVT, and DVT increase the risk of HBP.

Here is great and long article on climate, altitude and BP
