I have been on blood pressure medications, norvace and hydrochlothazide, (not sure about the spellings) for more than 10 years. I am 47. However, most of the time my blood pressure have remained high, sometimes going as high as 160/101. The lowest has been 140/90. I went to my doctor and showed him the literature on Resperate, but he said he has never heard of it. I am considering using Resperate in addition to the medications. Any advice? My cholesterol is normal. My weight is 180lbs and l am 5.6ft tall. Could my weight be the cause? I am a African male? Any help?

Dear Kwab,

You raise some very good questions! First of all, although thousands of physicians have learned about RESPeRATE over the past few years and many are recommending it to their patients, it's not surprising that your doctor has not heard of it. RESPeRATE provides a new type of treatment -- device-guided breathing. It takes time to reach the hundreds of thousands of doctors in the US -- to educate them and for them to see for themselves how RESPeRATE benefits their own patients. Even now, about 1 in 10 RESPeRATE users learned about it from their doctor. We would be happy to provide you with a package of "clinical information" to share with your doctor. Just call to request it at 1-877-988-9388. We also have a website for healthcare professionals at: www.resperate.com/clinician. The Scientific Affairs department is also available to talk to doctors.

About RESPeRATE and medications: Many RESPeRATE users are also taking medication. Very often, even on 2 or 3 medications to lower blood pressure, it remains too high; and others are hoping their doctor will be able to reduce their medication. We recommend to continue taking the medication your doctor has prescribed and start using RESPeRATE 15 minutes daily as well. The reduction in blood pressure from RESPeRATE will be in addition to the reduction from your medication.

Unfortunately, African males (and females) are at greater risk for developing high blood pressure. Increased weight also affects blood pressure. You healthcare providers can provide you with additional information.

All the best!

Judy Chodirker (Manager, Scientific Affairs)
