I've been using resperate for about three months, I have seen a drop in blood pressure. The user manual suggests that going below five bpm might be counterproductive.
I have been clocking in at 4.8 bpm's at the end of each session (this will vary a little, 4.9; 5.0.but usually it's 4.8). I am just following the guide tones, not trying to hit a low number and I'm not straining.

For most of the session the bpm is above five, but it's gradually lowering. I would prefer not to concern myself with staying above five bpm as that would actually take some effort at the end.

Most sessions last about 13 minutes in the therapeutic zone, with maybe the last two or three minutes under five.

Since I'm not trying to reach a low number, I'm wondering if I should just carry on, and not worry about ending up under five bpm's.

Any suggestions or tips? Thanks, Jocko

FYI: Don't worry about your 4.8-4.9 bpm. I have been using Resperate for two years and I always end up with that number. The important thing is that is works! Just keep doing what you're doing and relax.

If it makes you feel any better, I usually breathe about 3.8 to 4.0 bpm on the Resperate. I get a little uncomfortable around 2.9 (displays flashes) so I avoid getting that low. I think I would hyperventalate at the 5 bpm some people want as a floor. Guess we are all made a little different.

I just want to stress that the vast majority of people are comfortable between 6-8 BPMs. If you are one of the few who can comfortably get below that "comfort" level without strain, breath holding, effort, concentration, etc then go with what feels comfortable. I find that people with a background in meditation or yoga seem to be the ones that are able to comfortably breathe at a lower rate and maintain a high sync rate.
For anyone reading this, please keep in mind that COMFORT IS KEY! It's not a competition to see how low you can go!
Breathe Easy!
